AI generation of layout rules

Every day we are expanding the capabilities of PlanoHero, and today we are delighted to announce that we have implemented artificial intelligence into Layout Rules. From now on, you can create planogram rules by describing the layout requirements.

You can use artificial intelligence directly when creating a product layout rule in the "AI generation of layout rule" settings section.

Interaction with artificial intelligence is enabled by a text input field. To create a rule, enter the layout description into the field and click "Generate." The AI will transform the text into a layout rule and automatically configure all the relevant settings.

AI Rule Generation currently supports the following settings:
Category and brand layout.
Grouping products by categories, brands, and shelves.
The order of the product groups, considering planned layout percentages.
Coefficient settings for sales-based layouts.
Configure restrictions on the maximum faces quantity and the required height of the product layout.
Free shelf space filling parameters.

Please note that AI Rule Generation is currently in the testing phase and has certain limitations:
The text field is limited to 700 characters.
The artificial intelligence does not support specific product names, characteristics, or suppliers, so incorporating these data in the planogram will not work correctly.
Product sorting works only for the highest level of the rule.

Recommendations for creating planogram rules:

Provide detailed descriptions for rules (include brand names, categories, their display order, and display percentages for product groups).
For accurate results, prefix category/brand names with the words "category" or "brand" (For example: Group products by brands: Brand 1, Brand 2, Brand 3).
Ensure category and brand names match the ones loaded in your account system.
Clearly specify coefficient parameters to be used (For example: Set coefficients - Turnover 0.2, Profit 0.3, Receipts qty 0.3, Sales qty 0.2).
For correct handling of free shelf space filling, provide specific parameters (For example: Fill the free space on shelves with products in order).
When dealing with specific shelves, provide their numbers; similarly, indicate the shelf number that should remain empty if needed.

You can describe the layout requirements gradually, in separate sentences, and after each new requirement, generate the rule to see the result after each iteration.

Once the planogram rule is successfully generated, you will see the message "Rule Generated" below the text input field. Additionally, you'll find the tools "Like Generated Rule" and "Dislike Generated Rule." We recommend marking the generated rule's results, as this helps the artificial intelligence evolve and improve its outputs.

In case the artificial intelligence fails to generate a planogram rule, it will provide an error message in the "Response" field. The error reason will be stated, and you can adjust the description accordingly and try generating the rule again.

The generated rule can be further customized manually, saved, and applied like regular planogram rules.

Examples

A few examples of requests for generating a product layout rule:
1. Product layout.
Group products by brand in the following order: Brand 1, Brand 2, Brand 3, Brand 4, and Brand 5.
Set the percentage of layout for the groups as follows: Brand 1 - 30%, Brand 2 - 30%, Brand 3 - 20%, Brand 4 - 10%, and Brand 5 - 10%.
Set the Sales Quantity coefficient to 1.
Sort the products by size in descending order from the top shelf to the bottom.
Fill the shelf free space with least laid out products.

2. Layout of drinks on the shelves
Lay out Brand 1 products on the 1st shelf, Brand 2 products on the 2nd shelf, Brand 3 products on the 3rd shelf.
Calculate the Faces quantity for each product based on sales, set the coefficients proportionally.
Apply ascending price sorting for each shelf.
