# Product packing

One product can be sold in different packaging variants and quantities. Using packing, you can set the dimensions and image for each package. For example, for fruit you can add packing in 1 and 2 kg packages, and for drinks — in 1 and 6 bottle variants.

In this article, we will review how to add and configure packing, set its priority, and use packing when laying out products.

### How to add product packing
Packing can be added for both packaged and weighted products to lay them out on shelves, hooks, and other equipment elements.

To add packing, open the **"Product information"** tab. This can be done in two ways:
1. **In the "Products" block**:
* **Thumbnail mode** — hover over the product card and click **"Edit"**;
* **Table mode** — at the end of the row, click **"More actions"** → **"Edit"**.
2. **In planogram editing mode**:
* Click the product on the planogram or in the product list;
* In the panel with brief product information, click **"Setup product"** in the upper-right corner.

Scroll down and click **"+Add packing"**, specify:
* **Packing name**;
* **Products qty in pack / weight**;
* **Height, width, and depth of the package**;
* **Packing image** — read more about uploading images [__in the article__](https://helpdesk.planohero.com/en/article/how-to-upload-or-change-a-product-image-113wbba/).

The order of packings determines how they are displayed in the **"Packing type"** list. For a weighted product, the packing with the first priority is automatically used during layout. To change the order, drag the required packing to the first position using the dots **(⠿)** to the left of its name:

To delete packing, click **"Delete packing"** below its image.

### How to lay out a packed product on a planogram

###### Packaged products
To lay out a packed product on a planogram:
1. In **"Editing"** mode, click the laid out product;
2. Select **"Set up"** on the toolbar;
3. In the **"General settings"** block, open the **"Packing type"** list and select the required packing.

||| Important! "Packing type" can only be selected for packings previously added to the product. If there is no packing, it can be added directly from the planogram editing mode.

###### Weighting  products
If packing has been added for a weighting  product, it can be laid out on any equipment element — a shelf, hook, etc. When laid out, the product is automatically placed in the form of the packing with the first priority.

To set or change the packing type:
1. Select the weighted product on the planogram and click **"Set up"**;
2. In the **"General settings"** block, open the **"Packing type"** list and select the required packing.

### Useful tips for using packing
* Use packing to add multiple images to a product: for example, seasonal packaging or a different design;
* Create separate packing for a product that is sold both by weight and in packaged form: for example, apples can be laid out in bulk by weight or in 1–2 kg bags;
* Set different physical parameters for a product on each planogram through packing to account for specific placement features without changing the main product card. For example, in a clothing store, jeans can be placed on a hanger or folded on a shelf.
