# Management of Equipment Element Activity

### Management of Equipment Element Activity
PlanoHero allows you to control the activity of equipment elements. This makes it possible to flexibly configure which elements will participate in product placement and analytics.

By default, all equipment elements are **active**. This means that when new elements are added, they are automatically included in **autoplacement, placement rules, and product copying**, and are also taken into account in **analytics**. You can change this state at any time in Set up.

To change the activity of equipment elements, switch to **"Edit equipment"** mode. In this mode, the **"Set up"** tool is available, where you can define which elements will be **active** and which will be **inactive**.

### Which elements can be set inactive
You can set the following elements as inactive:
* Base;
* Shelf;
* Angle shelf;
* Hangbar.

Elements placed on **inactive** equipment elements automatically become **inactive**. This applies, for example, to drawers and hooks.

**Inactive** elements will not be displayed in the planogram structure and will not be included in the **"Linear metres of layout on equipment"** indicator.

Products placed on **inactive** elements are not included in analytics in the **"Reports"** section, as well as in planogram and store plan reports.

### Numbering behavior
The system automatically skips **inactive** elements during numbering. If the base is inactive, numbering starts from the first active shelf.

### Placing products on inactive elements
When using **autoplacement, placement rules, and copying**, products will not be placed on **inactive** elements. However, you can manually place a product on an **inactive** element, which effectively turns it into a virtual shelf.

||| Important! Rotation, mirroring, alignment, and sorting work on inactive equipment elements.

Products placed on inactive elements will not be displayed in the service as placed.

### Tips for use
**Inactive** equipment elements can be used in the following cases:
* As a cover for refrigeration equipment;
* As an element for placing decorations;
* As a virtual shelf for working with assortment;
* As a non-functional equipment base.
